CAMP ZOE LODGE

The Camp Zoe Lodge and walkway, built in 1929 in the distinct Missouri vernacular architecture genre, Ozark rock masonry, are historically significant both architecturally and culturally.

Crowning the hill overlooking Sinking Creek, the Camp Zoe Lodge and its stone walkway bear witness to the footsteps of generations of campers. Laughing with pals in their cabins, dining at the mess hall and heading off to the barn to ride horses, the creek to swim and canoe, or the Old Shelter to sing favorite camp songs, all who attended participated in a variety of camp activities for up to eight weeks each summer.

Camp Zoe touched the lives of thousands of Missouri’s children. For many, this enchanted place profoundly shaped their future. It’s extraordinary environment inspired them to explore their own independence, to embrace adventure, to be awed by nature, and to nurture relationships into lifelong friendships. Indeed, it framed their very character through days filled with wonder and joy.

Our Cooperative Agreement with Missouri State Parks assures their support of our efforts to preserve the Camp Zoe Lodge and the very legacy of Camp Zoe itself. With the assistance of Missouri State Parks, application will be made for the inclusion of Camp Zoe Lodge in the National Register of Historic Places.
